Mary’s Myth wines at the beach
Our winemaker Alister McMichael grew up in the Adelaide hills during the wine boom of the late 1990’s. After finishing his studies Alister began his wine journey in the Mosel Region of Germany learning the old world technique to make Riesling.
On returning to the southern hemisphere Alister spent six months working in Northern Canterbury in New Zealand where he was exposed to minimalistic wine making techniques with dashes of biodynamic and organic winemaking/ viticultural practices.
Alister was able to use some of the techniques he learned in Germany to help produce some cool climate riesling and learning a lot about cool climate Pinot Noir.
Once the New Zealand vintage concluded Alister ventured once again to the Northern Hemisphere, this time to up state New York to work in the Finger Lakes Region. The Finger Lakes are a relatively new wine region specialising in Riesling. Alister learned a few new world tricks making Riesling, Cabernet Franc and Pinot Noir in the very cold climate.
On returning to the Adelaide Hills, Mary’s Myth Wines was born in partnership with old friends Evan Starkey and Millie Haigh.
