Dowie Doole wins best rosé at McLaren Vale wine show

DOWIE DOOLE have been awarded the ‘Best Rosé’ trophy sponsored by Hahn Corporation at the 2018 MGA Insurance McLaren Vale Wine Show, held on Friday 26th October.

The esteemed judging panel chaired by David LeMire MW included a host of wine industry experts and guest International Judge Corinne Mui – COO & Senior Wine Educator of Asia Wine and Service Education Centre. The judges awarded the trophy to the 2018 DOWIE DOOLE Rosé stating that the “top wine was fine boned, classy and very provincial”.

In its second vintage release, the 2018 DOWIE DOOLE Rosé is made from 89% Grenache from 53-year-old vines and 11% Vermentino. Chief Winemaker Chris Thomas took inspiration from Provencal Rosé when crafting the blend: “I wanted to create a Grenache dominant Rosé with a difference. The addition of Vermentino gives the wine a lovely acid line and slight phenolic grip”. The resultant wine is dry, fresh & crisp with exceptional depth of flavour and vibrant acidity.

DOWIE DOOLE picked up four other medals at the McLaren Vale Wine Show for a range of wines in addition to the Best Rosé of Show:

2018 Rosé – Top Gold Medal – Tophy Best Rosé

2018 Vermentino – Bronze Medal

2016 Cali Road Shiraz – Bronze Medal

2016 Reserve Shiraz – Bronze Medal

2016 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon – Bronze Medal

The Trophy winning Rosé will be one of the feature wines at the ‘McLaren Vale Meets Leigh Street’ event on Friday November 9th from 4:30pm in Adelaide’s Leigh Street where the best of the 2018 McLaren Vale Wine Show will be available for tasting.
